Alice Hughes

Alice is an award-winning producer based in London, UK, with a diverse portfolio across a variety of formats. With a passion for storytelling and a keen eye for cinematic detail, Alice creates films that captivate and inspire. Her work has gained significant recognition at prestigious festivals such as SXSW, BFI London Film Festival, Sundance London, AFI Docs, Palm Springs, and many more, earning multiple Grierson and BIFA nominations or shortlists and a BAFTA Cymru nomination.

Alice’s debut feature, Half Way, earned its director a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit award and was nominated for a BIFA and a Grierson in 2017. Her short film, Puffling, had its World Premiere in competition at SXSW 2023, was longlisted for a BIFA, and won the Oscar Qualifying Jury Award for Documentary at Aspen Shortsfest. Additionally, Puffling was featured on Doc NYC’s prestigious “Shortlist,” highlighting films considered among the year's strongest contenders for awards season.

Her films have been funded by BFI Doc Society, The Uncertain Kingdom, and If /Then Field of Vision, and have won multiple awards at BAFTA Qualifying festivals. They have been showcased on prominent platforms like The New Yorker, Nowness, and BFI Player, with several earning Vimeo Staff Picks and Short of the Week selections.

Recognised as a Sheffield Doc Fest Future Producer in 2023, Alice runs Beehive Films, producing innovative, cinematic, and character-driven films with social issues at their core. In addition to documentaries, Alice also produces fiction films, music videos, social content, and commercials, bringing extensive experience across a range of platforms for a variety of clients.
